Extension talk:Language Namespaces

What's the point?

This was a proof of a concept thing I created for someone asking whether this is possible. To my knowledge it has never been used anywhere. Why was a page created for it? Nikerabbit (talk) 13:09, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

Because a page was created by GZWDer for every extension in [1]. I have no idea why they did that, but have been cleaning them up so they aren't empty placeholders. * Pppery * _{it has begun} 15:17, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

Why I create it is it will be easier to check various things via automatically-generated categories and content. E.g. When deprecating a hook we would check extensions in categories like Category:LocalisationCacheRecache extensions. Also, some extensions are used somewhere but hardly documented (e.g. Extension:WikiMirror), and this provides a place to document them, or at least, provide a place that code can be found (e.g. [2] does not say where the code of Extension:WikiMirror is, so user may try to find it in MediaWiki.org - in fact first I try to find one, but it does not exist, so I created one. Then I created pages for each extension in Module:ExtensionJson without a page so more similar cases will less likely happen). GZWDer (talk) 16:06, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
