About this board

The purpose of these redirects was not to improve searching. They help to avoid that you have to type "Extension:Name of extension" to get to the page directly. "Name of extension" is easier and would have been sufficient prior to your action. It is true that this might be an unnecessary extra. However, this wiki is full of such redirects. May I kindly ask you to delete them as well. I do not like the idea of uncompleted work. Thank you.

P858snake (talkcontribs)

I'm aware the other redirects, and I'm working on getting rid of them, but when they are older since you can't tell if there is external links pointing to them compared to when they are fresh and new when that is relativity unlikely to occur.

Kghbln (talkcontribs)

Fair enough. At one stage or the other this "compatibility modus" should be ignored. Touch wood.

Hey there, Peachey. Did you mean to block that IP indefinitely? --Bsadowski1 05:32, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

P858snake (talkcontribs)

Which IP block?

Yes, Repeated vandalism to Category:Edit.

It's pretty standard to block vandals and users that repeatedly creating pages out side of the project scope, Indef was the standard when I got +sysop when i asked in the IRC channel, but we have appeared to drop down to 1 month now.

Reach Out to the Truth (talkcontribs)

Indef for anon users is bad, because IP addresses can change frequently. How can we be sure that person is even still using that IP address?

Not all the extensions in /branches/wmf/1.16wmf4/extensions are actually enabled on any WMF wikis. Extension:Configure, for instance, is conditionally included in CommonSettings.php but disabled for all wikis in InitialiseSettings.php. I wouldn't count that as OnWikimedia, although maybe I'm just being pedantic.

P858snake (talkcontribs)

Well the extensions have gone though the review process and been approved to be branched into it for a reason so they most likely being used somewhere (such as the test sites).

'wmgUseConfigure' => array(
    'default' => false,
// 'testwiki' => true, // disabled bv 2009-03-25, will return to it later
),

It was being used on the test wiki for some period of time a while ago, but it isn't now, as far as I can tell.
