Hello @Bennylin,
The Content and Section translation tools are enabled for madwiki unless you are referring to another wiki. Thank you!
yes, but when one tried to translate, it translates to Indonesian language, not Madurese language.
maybe it's a setting problem? or is it policy problem (the community need to agree to, or vote to enable translation to Madurese language, not Indonesian)?
so far it hasn't been used precisely because of that, but the community didn't know that it wasn't normal until I gave Wiki training to their community, and this problem came to my attention.
left (source) is in Indonesian, right (target) language is also in Indonesian.
I noticed that a version of the Artificial general intelligence article did not exist on Simple English Wikipedia and I was considering creating it. Then I was (automatically?) suggested to try the translation feature. It defaulted to French, which was not helpful to me, I have no indication in my User Agent that I should be able to understand French so that is a questionable default, so then I selected English source and Simple English target.
But it seems that this is not a supported language, it says "translation services not available".
It would be nice if there was a machine translation model for a subset of English.
I was a bit surprised that the disambiguation text suddenly appeared but it kind of makes sense, however, I would prefer to have a simple outline of the body of the article in place first so I discarded this. I was also surprised that after I got rid of it, I couldn't see a way to add it back, should I want to do so, which is a little unforgiving.
I figured out how to add the sections of pairs and replace them as needed.
I was a little surprised to see that there was a definition (from WikiData?) shown right below the submitted article, but it's not clear that is because of the Content Translation tool.
La pàgina m'apareix en blanc. Què puc fer?
Hay un problema general
Parece que arreglado
He perdut molt de treball.
Sorry
Ciao, ogni volta che modifico anche un solo carattere nella parte tradotta mi rimanda nella parte da tradurre
Grazie
Hello @Andreverp,
Please can you provide more details about:
- which article were you translating and to which language.
- which browser did you use (Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, etc.)
- If you're getting any errors, please provide log from browser console if possible. To open browser console: press Ctrl+Shift+j (or cmd+alt+J () on a Mac). Thank you!
@UOzurumba (WMF) Hello, I'm a member from Vietnamese wikipedia. I'm specialized in translating contents from English to Vietnamese on Vietnamese wikipedia. Recently, I've opened the content translation. Then I found out there were no page available on translating column. I wondered what had happened with translating column? And how this issue will be fixed. Thanks!!
There is a widespread problem
I appear to be having the exact same issue. Slightly different with different browsers, but ultimately cannot translate any page.
Appears to be fixed now. 👍🏻
Thank you, @Cdehesa906 and @Unflyingobject, for highlighting this issue. Could you please provide an update on whether it is working as expected?
It seems to work now, thanks
Thanks for the confirmation.
Hi there,
I am an extended confirmed user on wp:en and want to translate an article to wp:fr. I already used the tool multiple times, but today, it doesn't seem to work: the generated interface is displayed in blank with the sole "On the English Wikipedia this tool is limited to extended confirmed editors, and the machine translation component is disabled for all users (see WP:CXT)." message.
Is there anything going on?
Thanks.
The same problem in Russia
Same in Israel
Same in the Czech rep.
Same in Spain
I have done three translations recently. I've noticed some errors that are recurring. Sometimes a notification pops up indicating that there have been changes in the original article. I check the original article and it turns out not to be true. When I go into the translation page again, some paragraphs have not saved and I have to do them again. Moreover, after publishing the translation, some inline citations are not added and I have to add them manually. I also noticed other minor problems, but these are the main ones. Please correct these errors, as they discourage the use of the tool.
Hello @Mlody1312,
Can you share the following information:
- Which article you were translating and to which language
- The browser you used (Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, etc.)
thank you.
For example Blue fox fur.
I use Chrome.
Il devient pénible de publier une traduction de l'anglais vers le français ne nécéssitant pratiquement pas de corrections de la traduction automatique !!!.
Il est ultra pénible d'avoir à faire des modifications artificielles et c'est une perte de temps !!!
Hello Charele,
Sorry about the issue you are having. If the automatic translation in the Wikipedia you are translating to has improved, making the current machine translation limit very strict. You can discuss adjusting the limit with the Wikipedia community in the village pump.
In deciding how strict the automatic translation should be, your community should consider different samples of the automatic translation as case studies and agree on a suitable threshold based on its accuracy and the extent to which translators edit the machine translation.
Once there is a consensus on the percentage of adjustment (e.g. 99% automatic translation and 1% adjustment), you can create a phabricator ticket like this one so that the WMF Language team can adjust the machine translation limit.
I hope this information helps. Thank you!
Merci pour le retour. Désolé pour mon énervement.
I was translating this page to Spanish on Firefox and I can't translate the "Downloading subtitles from YouTube" section; the warning says "unknown error".
Browser console log: NotFoundError: No such JSProcessActor 'BrowserToolboxDevToolsProcess'
Missing resource in locale es-CL: devtools/client/toolbox.ftl
Update: got the same error and problem on the section "Machine Transcription" and on the first paragraph of "Creating subtitles with whisper.cpp".
I tried to do the translation on a Chromium based browser (Brave) and I still had the same error. Console log:

It is not the purpose of the Content Translation. Thanks.
