Wikimedia tech swag program
Overview
[edit]Wikimedia Foundation's Program Management team runs a swag program, that rewards technical contributors for their active participation in outreach programs, events, and software projects by giving swags. It was first launched in 2022 by the Technical Engagement team in collaboration with the Fundraising Operations team.
This is a small token of appreciation for the countless efforts of our technical contributors towards building a thriving community!
2023 Swag candidates
[edit]The 2023 Tech swag program will rewarded technical contributors for actively participating in outreach programs, events, and software projects in the following areas:
- Google Summer of Code - Mentors, and organization administrators (details).
- Outreachy - Mentors, and organization administrators from the summer and winter rounds.
- Gerrit code contributions - Top 20 active contributors in Gerrit (10 each for patch authors and reviewers).
- Wikimedia Hackathon - Organizers of the hackathon (details).
- Wikimedia VPS and Toolforge volunteer administrators - Active technical volunteer administrators with "root" rights in Toolforge and/or Wikimedia Cloud Services (details)
All selected candidates will receive a Wikimedia tech Backpack, along with a Thank you Card.
How to order
[edit]All swag candidates will receive an email containing a personalized store portal link and a unique coupon code via email.
đ Here are the steps to access the portal and order your swag:
Step 1: Enter code
[edit]Visit the store link and enter your coupon code to access the portal.
Step 2: Confirm Item
[edit]After entering the code, you can browse through detailed images and features of the Swag Item. When you're ready to proceed with your order, simply click "Continue" to move forward in the process.
Step 3: Shipping information
[edit]In this final step, you'll input your shipping address and email details. Afterward, take a moment to review your order summary.
If everything checks out, click on "submit" to finalize your order! Once confirmed, an order confirmation email will be sent to you for your records.
2022 Swag candidates
[edit]In the second year of its operation, the swag program considers 90 individuals with significant contributions as developers, mentors, and organizers in 2022 for each of the following areas.
- Google Summer of Code - All interns, mentors, and organization administrators (details).
- Outreachy - All interns, mentors, and organization administrators from the summer and winter rounds.
- Small wiki toolkits - All mentors of workshops conducted for small language wiki communities (details).
- Gerrit code contributions - Top 30 active contributors in Gerrit (15 each for patch authors and reviewers).
- Wikimedia Hackathon - Organizers of the hackathon (details).
- Coolest tool award - selection committee (details).
- Wikimedia VPS and Toolforge volunteer administrators - Active technical volunteer administrators with "root" rights in Toolforge and/or Wikimedia Cloud Services (details)
All swag candidates will receive a Wikimedia tech t-shirt, water bottle, and notecard.
How to order
[edit]All swag candidates will receive a store portal link and a coupon code via email. Here are the steps in the user journey to use the portal.
Step 1: Enter code
[edit]Visit the store link and enter your coupon code to access the portal.
Step 2: Select size
[edit]Once you enter the code, select your t-shirt size and click "Continue" to proceed with your order.
Step 3: Shipping info
[edit]You will enter your shipping address and email address in this final step, then review your order summary.
If all looks good, you can hit "submit," and your order will be complete! You will then receive an order confirmation email for your records.
