Wikimedia Language engineering/translatable pages

From mediawiki.org

We want to empower the different Wikimedia communities, and build with them (not just for them). This represents a more decentralized approach based on the Product platform strategy and the Wikimedia Foundation Annual plan. However, for communities to participate, the resources we provide them with have to be available in a language they can understand.

Multilingual wikis such as Mediawiki.org or Meta include valuable resources for community participation such as Wikimedia project information and documentation. Making those resources available in the different languages of our communities is essential to avoid leaving anyone behind. Improvements on authoring and editing translatable pages will lower the barrier for many communities to participate in our projects contributing to knowledge equity, and helping define standard practices for the Wikimedia Foundation teams.
