Code review

[edit]

Congratulations and many thanks for being the most active reviewer of December in MediaWiki core! --Nemo 08:43, 1 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Do one good thing per day ;-) [and a bit more].
You should set explicit UTF-8 on the linked page to support Internet Explorer better, because he detects the wrong charset/coding (Seeing "Dziewoński" for example). Der Umherirrende (talk) 09:51, 1 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you

Dear Umherirrender. I can't thank you enough for all your help with regards to Code Review and Phabricator. Most patches of mine have moved forward because of you. So thank you for your help and apologies if I did something wrong. I also take this opportunity to wish you Merry Christmas if you celebrate them, and a happy and prosperous new 2018 year. Best regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 21:59, 7 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello MarcoAurelio, thanks for the warm words and I wish the same. But I cannot help on all Patch Sets ;-) Extension registration is not my area. Der Umherirrende (talk) 20:36, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

A barnstar for you!

Unpatrolled pages not showing in newpagesfeed

[edit]

Hello,

Sorry for contacting you here but I couldn't send an issue directly on github about the pagetriage extension.

I've run into a new problem : the unpatrolled/unreviewed pages aren't shown in Special:NewPagesFeed

Oddly, if I review it (without the curation tool, by clicking on "mark this page as patrolled") and then unreview it (with the curation tool), the page magically appears in the https://dicoado.org/dico/Sp%C3%A9cial:NewPagesFeed

For example, the page "principe" appears in recent modification as a new unreviewed page https://dicoado.org/dico/Sp%C3%A9cial:Modifications_r%C3%A9centes

But not in NewPagesFeed

Any idea how to solve this ? Thanks !

Hello, the bug tracker for PageTriage is on Wikimedia's phabricator, see all open tasks (with project #MediaWiki-extensions-PageCuration). I am not a developer of that extension, I have only fix some tests to avoid some trouble with them when others changing the extenion. Der Umherirrende (talk) 07:27, 16 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the fast answer ! :) DSwissK (talk) 14:38, 16 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Collecting examples of simple code work

[edit]

Hi Umherirrender, I've been lately thinking of simple configuration code work which does not require much previous knowledge. The idea behind is to help individuals in smaller wiki communities to better support their communities by enabling them to write code changes themselves.

I tried to collect a number of things on mw:User:AKlapper_(WMF)/T126330. As you are very active and knowledgeable across all MediaWiki code in Gerrit (thanks for all your work!), I wondered if there's anything more that could be added.

If you have some time and feel interested, please feel very welcome to take a look and to make edits to that draft page on mw:User:AKlapper_(WMF)/T126330. :) Thanks a lot in advance! --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 15:23, 8 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

The Technical Decision Forum needs YOU!

[edit]

Hello

This is your letter from Hogwarts personal invitation to become a community representative in the Technical Decision Forum (TDF).

Your contributions to the movement so far make you an excellent candidate, so we hope you'll consider joining. Please visit the TDF Community Representation page for more information, and email TDFSupport@wikimedia.org by Aug 12, 2022 to be considered for selection. Do note that the requirements listed on wiki so far are just a starting point, they are not set in stone; just provide your name, name of the group you "represent" if any, and a short sentence or two explaining your interest.

For any questions, please post at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Talk:Technical_decision_making/Forum, or on the related Movement Strategy Forum topic, or simply email TDFSupport@wikimedia.org.

Thank you! --the Technical Decision Forum. Elitre (WMF) (talk) 09:08, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Elitre, thanks for the Trust, but in my mind I am not the right person for that work. Der Umherirrende (talk) 19:12, 14 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Top code contributor - thank you and question

[edit]

Hi there! I am Selena Deckelmann, CPTO at the WMF. I am reaching out to our top volunteer code contributors to Wikimedia Projects -- thank you so much for your contributions! Are you open to scheduling a real time chat, voice or video conversation with me? I wanted to say thank you, and ask you about your volunteer development work. I'm also interested in any thoughts or suggestions you have for me, my staff or the WMF more broadly. Let me know if you're open to it and we can figure out the details! SDeckelmann-WMF (talk) 22:12, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello Selena, thanks for reaching out, but I am not interested in real time chat or alternatives. I am also not involved in the processes at WMF, so I have no suggestion about that for you. Der Umherirrende (talk) 19:43, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply. And thanks again for your contributions. SDeckelmann-WMF (talk) 00:17, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
