[edit]Hello, teammate. Â :-D
When you are updating Toolhub documentation for Commons some time, I have a non-urgent request for you: Could you look for some little spot to add a sort of warning or disclaimer? I feel like newer end users are less aware that these tools are written by volunteers, who might lose interest or quit or get banned (or even die, I suppose). This could result in a tool not getting necessary updates over time, and eventually no longer working. While everything's open source (which is an improvement over how we handled things back in the day), so someone could update it, it's not unusual for scripts, gadgets, and tools to just end up broken, with nobody interested in fixing it. Even when it breaks due to something that we've warned about for years, it's unusual for the end users to see those warnings, so it's always a surprise to them.
This isn't really a Commons-specific problem, but I think Commons struggles even more than most communities, due to the complexity of their needs. If it doesn't work out, that's okay. This is just an idea. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 15:59, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
