Please remove my autopatrol flag

[edit]

I don't know what your purpose is, but please remove it immediately and don't continue to harass me, thank you. --轻语者 (talk) 09:14, 12 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

@轻语者: Gave you the right since you know what you're doing and it reduces the amount of unpatrolled edits, but, as you wish. Minorax (talk) 09:16, 12 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

About my admin rights request

[edit]

Hello

My name is Esio in the Gentoo wiki: wiki.installgen (remove this space) too.com/wiki/User:Esio

A user se7en1 is threatening to ban me because I am removing racist wiki posts (from some really really pathetic people, if you can believe some people do exist in this world) and I would like to get admin rights so I can stop that and continue my work. My request here was deleted, says there is no such user, so can you tell me how I can become an admin on the Gentoo wiki? Thank you.

I believe Gentoo wiki is not a WMF wiki and I can't do anything about it there. You should request for rights on that wiki itself. Furthermore, the account that requested for admin rights is not registered here. Minorax (talk) 13:00, 22 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
My bad on deleting the request page, seems like the problem was with the capitalisation of the page. I can undelete it but since the wiki stated isn't "controlled" here, I see no point doing so. Minorax (talk) 14:57, 22 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Can you undelete the request page anyways? I wrote the text for the reasons why I wanted admit rights but I did not copy and paste it down on my notepad (as I didn't know my request would be deleted), it would help me a lot since I won't have to rethink and rewrite it for the next person I will ask for admin right. Thank you.

Done. Let me know when you finish copying it. Minorax (talk) 15:05, 22 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Copied. Thanks again.

One more thing, I am not familiar with how wiki's work (except maybe a little about Wikipedia), can you tell me where on the gentoo wiki wiki.install (remove space) gentoo.com/wiki/Main_Page do I go to ask for admin rights? I thought it was here on this site so that is why I made the request here, but it turns out here is not the right place.

In short, I don’t know. However, you can try asking the bureaucrats listed in Special:Listusers/bureaucrat (copy this) on that wiki. Minorax (talk) 02:01, 23 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, could you please undelete my post? If there are any issues, I would change what is needed. I am new here and I am trying to complete a homework for a class I am taking.

Abuse Filter #83

[edit]

Hi. Thanks for your work on mediawiki.org. I've noticed Special:AbuseFilter/83 and wanted to discuss a couple of things with you. 1) Why is it hidden? It seems like a pretty simple filter to me. 2) Isn't this something that should've been taken care of by a discussion on Project:Requests and a site config change? Essentially it's about taking createpage away from * and users and giving it to autoconfirmed, isn't it? --Krenair (talkcontribs) 19:22, 16 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Krenair: I’ve changed it to tag only and unhide it. It was actually meant for IPs and wasn’t expecting it to be this effective. Minorax (talk) 01:40, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Undelete My Post (PtoroM)

[edit]

Hello, I would like to ask you if you could undelete my post so I can fix whatever is wrong with it, please? I am new here and I am trying to complete a homework for a class I am taking. I spent an entire day doing my homework. If I can't do it here, then I will submit a word document to my class.

This wiki is not a place for your class, I believe you’ve been warned by the abusefilter when you tried to create the page. Secondly, it seems like there are several users who have been trying to create, more or less, the same article. If it’s you, I’d suggest that you stop creating new accounts just to try to create the page. I’ll undelete it and place it at User:PtoroM/sandbox, I can’t make sure if any other admins are going to delete it but if they do, don’t create it again. Minorax (talk) 17:14, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

I understand. I have not created more than one article. It is more likely that my other classmates did the same because our instructor gave us an example of how to create a wiki and showed us all this website. I will inform my instructor about this. Thank you very much for clarifying that. I will not post it here. I just need the post to be undeleted to complete my homework elsewhere. Thank you.

Thank you

[WMF Board of Trustees - Call for feedback: Community Board seats] Meetings with MediaWiki and Wikitech communities

[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees is organizing a call for feedback about community selection processes between February 1 and March 14. While the Wikimedia Foundation and the movement have grown about five times in the past ten years, the Board’s structure and processes have remained basically the same. As the Board is designed today, we have a problem of capacity, performance, and lack of representation of the movement’s diversity. Our current processes to select individual volunteer and affiliate seats have some limitations. Direct elections tend to favor candidates from the leading language communities, regardless of how relevant their skills and experience might be in serving as a Board member, or contributing to the ability of the Board to perform its specific responsibilities. It is also a fact that the current processes have favored volunteers from North America and Western Europe. In the upcoming months, we need to renew three community seats and appoint three more community members in the new seats. This call for feedback is to see what processes can we all collaboratively design to promote and choose candidates that represent our movement and are prepared with the experience, skills, and insight to perform as trustees?

In this regard, two rounds of feedback meetings are being hosted to collect feedback from the technical communities in Wikimedia. Two rounds are being hosted with the same agenda, to accomodate people from various time zones across the globe. We will be discussing ideas proposed by the Board and the community to address the above mentioned problems. Please sign-up according to whatever is most comfortable to you. You are welcome to participate in both as well!

Also, please share this with other volunteers who might be interested in this. Let me know if you have any questions. KCVelaga (WMF), 14:38, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

The Inuka Team: We need your help.

[edit]

Hello Minorax,

Thank you so much for all the work you do in translating pages marked for translation. It is great to have you doing so much work to ensure that knowledge is available in other languages. Once again, we will need your help in translating the pages below to the language you know:

Please, don't feel pressured to finish all the translation; it is okay to translate some of the pages.

cleanup of translate tags

[edit]

Hi. Please do not cleanup ‎<translate>...‎</translate> tags like Special:Diff/4068688. It breaks the existing paragraphs. --Shirayuki (talk) 00:56, 20 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

How we will see unregistered users

[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Marking draft pages for translation

[edit]

Hi. Manual:Coding conventions/Vue is still a draft, and it also states, "Please do not mark this page for translation yet. It is still being drafted, or it contains incomplete translation markup which should be fixed before marking for translation." Please refrain from marking such pages for translation.
