question
[edit]Hello Jasper Deng,
Could you please tell me, if there's a bot that could be run from an oversight account that could oversight history revisions in media files on commons, using a list of files that should be oversighted.Thanks. --Ttyy (talk) 17:20, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- No such bot yet; I don't work with files.Jasper Deng (talk) 19:28, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. It should be something similar to program that is used to rename users. Could you please advise me who is the best person to ask?--Ttyy (talk) 23:57, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- It's best to ask on Meta.Jasper Deng (talk) 23:58, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- But why Meta. Isn't Media wiki site, where I could ask developers? I asked an oversighter on Commons, and he told me it is done by Mediawiki. Thanks.--Ttyy (talk) 04:03, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- I think he meant that we can help in development of the bot, and the WMF probably needs to give its legal consent, but the bot itself would require approval from Meta. I'd recommend you ask a developer for how to construct such a bot, but Meta needs involvement for something like this.Jasper Deng (talk) 04:08, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Could you please tell me what developer I should ask? Thanks.--Ttyy (talk) 14:25, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- I don't really know who does bots a lot, but anyone who seems to be an active developer is fine.--Jasper Deng (talk) 17:31, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Could you please give me two-three names. Thanks.--Ttyy (talk) 19:11, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I don't want to take other developers' time; basically any sysop on this wiki.Jasper Deng (talk) 19:42, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Userpage
[edit]I would like to know whether the user page on mediawiki could be used for introduction of personal profile of person who is using media wiki? This question is being raised as you have deleted the content of my user page.--PRAMOD KUMAR T.K. (talk) 14:54, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- Only if that info is relevant to MediaWiki. You can introduce a personal profile, but besides contact information it must be related to MediaWiki.--Jasper Deng (talk) 17:05, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
