Manual:Eval.php

Hi, I undid your edit to eval.php marking it as outdated. What outdated content do you see on that page? The doc.wikimedia.org is significantly less useful than the wiki page. Legoktm (talk) 22:23, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

Sorry about the wrong modification. I thought it was a more up to date description, because the task that i am doing says that if the description on doc.wikimedia.org is different than on mediawiki.org, doc.wikimedia.org is often more up to date and that's why i marked that page as outdated. Marking for translation

Please pay attention to Shirayuki's corrections:

• strings which should have been made translatables were not enclosed in translate tags;
• untranslatable markup ended up being in translate tags, especially the table separators and I think some ref tag.

Translation memory

You have been great with Help:Tables, which by the way has thousands of visits per month. If you want to continue, I have a great project idea for you: you could convert Manual:FAQ! That's the single most important page on this wiki, perhaps; if you manage to convert it, you will be remembered for years. :) I estimate between 5k and 15k edits will be needed and I already created 10 more GCI tasks for you to claim, which should be enough to complete the job. Oh, you already marked the page. :-O The units look decent but there is much more to do: internal links should use Special:MyLanguage, many links and untranslatable things should use tvar, etc. Now you must be fast migrating the old translations, otherwise thousands of users will see English instead of the translated text they wanted and had! :) Nemo 08:44, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

Yes that's fine, just try to find a home for every paragraph of the old translations so that nothing is lost. If you update the source page, make sure to mark the page for translation again with the checkboxes "do not invalidate translations", or FuzzyBot will revert all the migration work you are doing! Also, I've tested Special:PageMigration and with some of the pages it's usable, you may want to try it. Nemo 09:07, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

Some interesting pages to migrate, which will need some additional work (I'll count that too, not only numbers of units):

• Manual:MediaWiki feature list (you should verify that the features still exist)
• Manual:Short URL
• Manual:Using custom namespaces (rather simple)
• Manual:User rights (need to check how much content in the descriptions is already available as system messages: "allows the creation of new pages" may become "Create pages (which are not discussion pages)", outside translate tags, and only additional notes left as actual strings in the page).

Other pages you may consider are Manual:Extensions, Manual:Image administration, Manual:Installation requirements, Manual:Configuring file uploads.
