I've downloaded your extension
[edit]Hi
I've downloaded your extension Masonry, looks interesting, and have started playing around with it. I've been interested in the Masonry layout of a while and plan on giving your extension a good test drive. I also published a CSS snippet here that does the same type of layout via CSS. See: Snippets/Pinterest Like Gallery.
All the best to you.

Thanks for letting me know. I hope you find it useful. This extension started when we began adding more and more blocks to our corporate wiki main page as a means of advertising current events and important articles. The formatting to efficiently structure blocks quickly became a nuisance. I searched around for different methods to "Pinterestize" web content, but each had their pros and cons. This particular javascript seemed to be pretty flexible and wasn't too difficult to make compatible with MW.
If you have any questions or suggestions for improvement, feel free to contact me or submit a pull request.

- After I play with it for a while I'll come back and give you my three cents worth of insights. I plan on running it on the Foreground skin, which I find to be a far more beautiful skin then vector. Plus it has the benefit of being build on top of the Foundation Framework. See Wikiapiary as an example of the skin. I mention this because generally I find people love Mediawiki & Semantic Mediawiki, but hate the limitations in design. (And considering you wrote an extension involving a design aspect I thought maybe you would like it)

SMWCon Spring 2015 Proposal
[edit]Greetings, I wanted to let you know that we’d love to have you present on your topic at the upcoming SMWCon in St. Louis. I’m excited to hear more about your work and I hope you are still eager to present.
We’ve just updated the program with all the submitted talkes. Please take a moment to look it over and let me know of any scheduling conflicts.
We’re going to have a pretty neat audio/video setup this year. You’ll be able to use your own computer to present and we will be in a location with ample wi-fi. Please make sure to bring your own adapter if needed (HDMI preferred, but we also have VGA).
We will be live streaming all presentations with a software called WebEx. To test your connection ahead of time, please visit try connecting to the test meeting.
We’ll also be recording the presenters and editing a video including slides after the event. Please update your talk page with a link to your slides or send them to me (this can be done after the event!).
I’m looking forward to meeting you in person. If you have any further needs or questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Yours, Chris Koerner Local Chair
Interview for the WMF blog?
[edit]Hi Darenwelsh,
My name is Victor Grigas, I'm a storyteller for the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit that supports Wikipedia. I was wondering if you might be interested in being interviewed for the WMF blog? I can answer any questions that you may have, thank you! VGrigas (WMF) (talk) 15:32, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
- Nice to meet you, Victor. I'd be happy to talk with you. Feel free to contact me via gmail if you prefer more direct communication. --Darenwelsh (talk) 16:03, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
Something weird with Extension:MasonryMainPage page
[edit]Daren, I can't seem to figure out what's going on, but when I visit the Extension:MasonryMainPage page I'm seeing weird translate tags all over. Thought you might want to know. Ckoerner (talk) 14:50, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing this out. It seems User:Kghbln updated the page to use Template:ExtensionInstall. Per that page's discussion, it seems others have seen cases of it not working. I'm all for translation, but I don't know enough about that template to fix it. --Darenwelsh (talk) 00:51, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the ping. The issue was that the "ExtensionInstall" template was not using the "TNT" template. Fixed that and now everything looks fluffy again. :) A thing about the extension: I think it will be nice to bump the version of the extension somehow and do a new tag if something happens, like e.g. new version of MW supported, etc. This makes it easier to track what is going on. Currently people with 0.2.0 think they are still cool. Just a suggestion though. --[[kgh]] (talk) 06:48, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick fix to the template. I added tag 0.2.1 to distinguish the addition of support for MW 1.24+. Thanks for the reminder. --Darenwelsh (talk) 13:48, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
Well, I have to thank you for developing and maintaining this extension. Probably will do a I18n pull request soon. Cheers --[[kgh]] (talk) 14:50, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Talking w/ a friend about MW hosting and thinking of our last chat @ the dev summit. How's EMW coming? (and did you ever meet up with user:emw? :) Sj (talk) 17:55, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
Hi! Hosting as in looking for someone to host your content or as in you're looking to become a hosting provider? We keep chugging away at Meza and various extensions. Hopefully at least a few people find them useful. --Darenwelsh (talk) 19:23, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for coordinating the wiki edit from space
