My name is Raymond Jorgensen.

I work at GE Aviation Systems, where I am helping to build a process library and model using MediaWiki and Semantic MediaWiki technology. I have about 8 years of MediaWiki experience and about 1-year using Semantic MediaWiki, which I believe is an extraordinarily powerful means of leveraging the power of the Wiki.

Some of the concepts that I've successfully demonstrated within our GE Wiki ecosystem include:

  • integrated process model, using Semantic relationships to create a "UML/SysML" style of a model within the Wiki. I've created several different reports to dissect and explore the model, looking for inconsistencies and effective alignment.
  • threading work instructions, best practices, templates, checklists, etc to be published within the context of the process model without having to edit any part of the model to make it work. Any user of the Wiki can author an article, and by simply using the correct category and adding a relationship to the desired part(s) of the model, your article appears within the context of the model automatically - no mucking with the model itself!
  • leveraging Semantic Glossary to create a robust Glossary of definitions as well as an Acronym list using the same extension, but adapted to keep definitions and acronyms managed as different types of definitional content.
  • figured out a means of creating a scalable process model - ask questions from users using Semantic Forms about characteristics of your project and customer tailor/scale your process model for your project situation.
  • constructed an issues to lessons learned transformation process, with lessons learned integrated into the process library.
