—John Milton, AEROPAGITICAThough all the winds of doctrine were let loose to play upon the earth, so Truth be in the field, we do injuriously, by licensing and prohibiting, to misdoubt her strength. Let her and Falsehood grapple; who ever knew the Truth put to the worse, in a free and open encounter?
About me
I'm a free software advocate and software engineer. I graduated 2012 from the University of Redlands, with a B.S. in Computer Science. I live in the Mission in foggy San Francisco, and enjoy playing Bridge and the occasional jaunt for Parkour. I have contributed to many free software projects in the past, including Minetest, Etherpad, and OpenHatch.
I also really enjoy reading and discussing court cases, either oral arguments or decisions. I'm subscribed to the Cornell Supreme Court bulletin, so give me a few hours to read in the morning and then ask me about cases that are in the news!
My work
Generally, I'm a member of the Features team in the Engineering department at the WMF. This means that I work on cool new things to be included on WMF sites.
I started as a contractor, working on the Orgcharts project. I moved on to build the EtherEditor extension, and work a lot on bringing UploadWizard into a more modern state. Then, I worked on the Parsoid team, which is an attempt to rewrite the Wikitext parser to be more helpful for the VisualEditor project.
Now, I'm on the Multimedia team, working on MultimediaViewer and other projects.
