Can someone help me on how to use asterisk in the tool. Whenever I try to use asterisk in the tool, it for some reason move my signature into the next line.

Can you clarify what you are trying to do with that asterisk?
As you can see here :https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:In_the_news/Candidates, almost all of the replies have asterisk in the beginning of them. I want to do that too but I always comes the above mentioned issue.

DiscussionTools aren't used by everyone. Some users use it, click on [reply] after the first comment and got a indented comment with no bullet point. Some other user click [edit source] and add their comment manually, with an asterisk.
If you want to use an asterisk, you have to add your signature with the 4 ~ at the end of the line. Otherwise, it indeed fails.
I'll check if this latest diff is what is supposed to happen.
