Forgot to tell you, but this is related to the DiscussionTools extension.

In a few rare cases set out by local project rules it might be necessary to not add a signature. How can one turn off the automatic signature?

You just edit the page like you used to, instead of using DiscussionTools.

No longer, apparently.
