Topic on Talk:Structured Data Across Wikimedia/Image Suggestions

Xia (talkcontribs)

Hi. Since recently multiple users were asking about how to switch the function off, I'm sharing my (and apparently others') feedback on the tool: the issue we are having is that it suggests mostly irrelevant photos, so we are not sure how the mechanism selects photos for proposal but the success rate is near zero. Some photos it personally suggested to me were either not very good quality illustrations, irrelevant of the topic, or awkward, like a random French philosopher's image for the teeny-tiny article of :hu:etatizmus (etatism), whose name isn't even mentioned there. I am guessing it just scans tags from images but illustration isn't really about keywords.... It needs context, like is that thing at all mentioned in the article? :) Not sure how the successrate could be improved.

Hi @Xia, thanks a lot for your feedback. It is really helpful to know this, our scope is to have a useful tool, and if it's not useful, then it's on us to try to fix it.

Can you please link me the discussion where this is happening, so that I can directly intervene and collect the feedback from the other users? The more data, the better for me. Thanks in advance!
