Followup from our sessions -- creating a group/safe space!

Hey all and thank you for participating in the session(s) at the Hackathon!

The second (follow up) session ended with a suggestion that we open a space on Discord and continue discussions there about where and how the space will look like and how to support one another.

(see https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/Women_and_Non-binary_hacker_group)

While trying to set up the space, we realized that Discord is now requiring a phone number to log in, and we weren't sure that's the best way to go, so instead we are opening this up to anyone who may have an alternative (or if enough people decide that the requirement is okay)

If you have ideas on where to run this group, please feel free to start the space and invite others to it!

We'd love to provide support for such a space.

I think most chat platforms require at least an email and phone...Discord, Telegram, Whatsapp. Things that don't are usually less user-friendly and more prone to abuse (IRC, Matrix). Discord or Telegram would work for me.

I'm also okay with Discord or Telegram :)
