fixed now

should be :

Please where to make the correction ?

Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talkcontribs)

On TranslateWiki, as usual. You already fixed it there last week, so I’m not sure what this question is for? (The update hasn’t been deployed yet because there are no deployments this week due to the US holiday yesterday, but it should be deployed next week.)

Wladek92 (talkcontribs)

Yes it remembers me something. I have made a search on translatewiki.net in project MediaWiki for d&une but it returns nothing. (... of course if it was corrected) . It s why this point has been open. Becomes useless now according to your explaination. We wait next week and then close the subject. Thanks.

Alright, great :)

Looks like the fixed version was deployed now. (But shouldn’t it be a typographical apostrophe ’ and not normal one ' ?)

Wladek92 (talkcontribs)

What I see now is :

L’autonyme d'une langue, c’est-à-dire son nom dans cette langue.

If I type the usual apostrophe on my FR keyboard (french language knows only one type of apostrophe), it is inclined on the key but shown vertical on the Mediawiki (FR) display as here:

L'autonyme d'une langue, c'est-à-dire son nom dans cette langue.

If I embed the apostrophe from FR kbd before the one of the msg, you are right & has disappeared=>ok but we can distinguish a difference in the two other uses of the apostrophe as in:

L'’autonyme dune langue, c'’est-à-dire son nom dans cette langue.

So now what to say ? from the web I get a lot of apostrophes :

Apostrophe « ' » U+0027 is the universal apostrophe of all ketboards (not bépo) , all language
Apostrophe typographique « ’ » U+2019, preferred by unicode, it is a transformation by programs of the U+0027
Modificateur apostrophe « ʼ » U+02BC

A french sondage: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:Sondage/Apostrophe_typographique#Recommandation_de_l%E2%80%99apostrophe_typographique

The typograpical apostrophe in not on the keyboard its why its use is not natural. I have corrected the string agin in translatewiki.net making a CtrlC/CtrlV of other apostrophe of the same string but it is a burden to process like this everywhere. So ....

Okay, I see that’s a whole different can of worms :D I’ve copy+pasted the apostrophe from «L’autonyme» to «d’une» on Translatewiki so that they’re at least consistent within that message, and the rest is beyond the scope of this discussion, I think.
