I did some editing with the new editor, and wanted to list my pros, cons, and feature requests:
Pros
- Feels fairly quick
- It's nice that I can easily switch back and forth between previews and drafts pretty quick
- I like having auto syntax highlighting
- I like the template tool as well
Cons
- The auto-syntax highlighting is a little too light, would be nice if it was a bit darker
- Have to agree with others that the UI needs to offer more hints about how to get to the previews - it was very confusing for a while
- In the old text editor, adding an edit summary and then hitting "Preview" retained the edit summary for when you were ready to publish. The new text editor does not retain the edit summary, but it would be nice if it did
- I am an avid user of the ProveIt gadget, but it's not available for the new editor. It would be great if I could use ProveIt with the new editor. I'd like to advocate here for this grant to integrate ProveIt into the new editor to be funded
Feature Requests/Questions
- For the template tool - it would be nice if I could insert multiple templates at once, and if the tool let you fill out parameters like the one for the legacy wikitext editor allows you to do
- WikEd allows you to follow links with a ctrl-click, which is very useful, is the team is planning to implement this, or is there any plan to integrate WikEd with the new editor?
