What is the relationship between this and other editors?

I'm finding the number of editors and their naming schemes very confusing on MediaWiki. I found a link to this page from the insert image page which described it as the WYSIWYG editor but there also already is the other WYSIWYG editor. And then there's also the VisualEditor ? Is this derived from that or is a completely different thing?

This is extremely confusing as a new dev/sysadmin looking to become more involved in the MW system

For the BlueSpice distribution we developed a WYSIWYG editor based on TinyMCE under the name BlueSpiceVisualEditor. Later Wikimedia started a project with the same title. That is the reason for the confusion.

Today: VisualEditor is still the name of the native MediaWiki VisualEditor made bei the Wikimedia Foundation. BlueSpice is also using this extension.

The former BlueSpiceVisualeditor is continued with the extension TinyMCE. This entry here has to be updated. Thanks for this hint!

Okay gotcha, thanks! (also btw, don't know if you've seen this but Wordpress has been moving off TinyMCE into their new Gutenberg editor. Gutenberg is really dope and some devs decoupled it from WP so that it can be integrated into Drupal 8 as a module. Here's a link to the decoupled JS only repo which is ripe for being put into additional CMS or wiki platforms Would be really cool to see someone bring Gutenberg to Media Wiki! There's a ton of potential there.
