It seems that when a change is made using the VisualEditor, the code [[:Media: is automatically changed into [upload.wikimedia.org. See this example.
This changes transforms an internal media into an external link, which displays the little symbol of an arrow going out of a box.

It looks like it, but it's different: in the example you provided, [[Media: is transformed into [[Image: ; but in my case, [[Media is transformed into an external link : [upload.wikimedia.org.

The initial bug report is on a third-party wiki. //upload.wikimedia.org/ is the Wikipedia version of that person's Image/ file name (because our images are usually on Commons, and theirs aren't).

I'm not sure if I understood correctly, but if you see the example I provided, the file is not an image, but a .ogg file, and it does exist in Commons :
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Jorge_Luis_Borges.ogg
"Image:" works the same as "WP:" for You know that "WP:FdN" takes you to the same as "Wikipédia:FdN", right? "Image:" uses the same method. Image:Jorge Luis Borges.ogg (even though it's not an image) is the same as File:Jorge Luis Borges.ogg.
I think we still don't understand each other :)
The problem is not that it is File: or Image:, the problem is that instead of having File: or Image:, we have an url : //upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b9/
Check the example.
We have the upload.wikimedia.org URL because the software didn't understand that "Media:" is the exactly same thing as "File:".
OK, now I get it: I had to change Media by Image, like that: https://fr.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jorge_Luis_Borges&diff=153115397&oldid=153115274 (I first used File).
