Without MobileFrontend extension

Hi everyone, I am trying to install Minerva Neue skin. I noticed it works well both in Desktop and mobile screens (renponsive).

My question is if I set the Minerva Neue skin (like other skins by cloning the Minerva Neue directory inside "skins" directory of MediaWiki installation and making the wfLoadSkin( 'MinervaNeue' ); and $wgDefaultSkin = 'minerva'; changes) would it work at all? Or is the MobileFrontend extension mandatory?

In other words, does the MobileFrontend extension supports only the mobile screen version of the skin or is it needed to run the skin anywhere?

It would be a great help if anyone answers this problem... Thank you.

The MobileFrontend extension is needed by Minerva right now (see Skin:Minerva_Neue#Why_does_it_depend_on_MobileFrontend?) (as it uses some of it's JavaScript)

We're working to remove this dependency altogether, but in the mean time, it should be possible to install MobileFrontend but not configure it.

Thank you for the reply. So, if I install MobileFrontend shall I be able to use MinervaNeue for desktop screen also? Or just for mobile screens (as the name MobileFrontend suggests)...

Yes! Minerva just uses code in MobileFrontend. It is still a skin so can be used with wgDefaultSkin just like any other!

Thank you so much.
