Hi,

I tried to use the visual editor on Wikisource. I have the option enabled on the beta tools in my settings. However, when I switch from Wikicode edition to Visual Editor, I lose the header I just typed in. Instead, the main body of the page is moved to the header. When I go back to Wikicode, the body is at the right place but the header vanished.

Hi there. Can you give me an example of where this happened? Thanks.

Initially, I tried on the French Wikisource, for example, on that page : On the French one, body is moved to header in the visual editor, but moves back to the body section on wikicode editon.

I tried as well on the English Wikisource, for example here : On the English example, Wikicode => Visual is doing ok, but Visual => Wikicode : the header is moved to the body with brackets.

@Assassas77 Thank you for the bug report. Sadly the VisualEditor support of the Page: pages is still buggy and I do not have the weeks needed to get a good enough understanding of VisualEditor internals to make the required changes in it to fix these problems. The Edit team thinks that this support is not a priority at all so this project is stalled since a few years and will not be fixed any time soon if no VisualEditor person takes their free time to fix these problems (or there is a strategy shift at the WMF to care about Wikisource).

To summary the VisualEditor is enabled on Wikisource but should still be considered as an early alpha.

@TptOk, I understand :)

@Tpt Hi! Yes, the Editing team is not prioritising support of integration between the VisualEditor and ProofreadPage right now. However, I would love to know how the team can support your efforts in integrating them, to see if I can organise that. Thanks!

On a related note, at least the English Wikisource frequently uses templates rather than HTML for formatting (e.g., {{larger|My text}} instead of <big>My text</big> tags), which is going to make editing many pages somewhat uncomfortable. Proofreading such content might get easier when it's possible to edit templates inline/as rich objects, but putting the source into the templates in the first place would still involve a lot of copying and pasting.

@Deskana (WMF) Tank you very much for your reply! You could have a look at the "VisualEditor" column of the ProofreadPage workboard to see which are the most important problems.

@Assassas77 I have created a task on Phabricator about the problem. Thank you again for reporting it.
