Interesting. So you would like to create a readers generated requested articles, kind of thing? How do you imagine the community would prioritize and curate? Thanks!

Good questions! Pinging @Effeietsanders as I am not sure the watchlist notification went through.

I don't "imagine" a very complicated system, but the first step would be to collect the information from the readers, over time. Then, that could be compiled (you'd have to manually merge topics mentioned, probably). And that could indeed be used by the community as inspiration (if something is mentioned a lot, there's a demand for it, and it is more likely to be picked up). You could start with simply having a one-field form entry, and collecting the data with a time stamp - to be exported monthly in csv. If it work, you could set up something more complicated later.

@Effeietsanders Thanks for clarifying. Seems like a reasonable thing to look into!

Apparently there are a number of explorations in this space (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested_articles and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:West.andrew.g/Popular_redlinks but none that give the reader an explicit option. It would be interesting to see what kind of traction these have (i.e. does the input we already have on needed page drive page creation?) as a precursor to exploring ways to give readers a direct way to give their input on this.
