Image links in <gallery> break when using localized prefixes (e.g. "Fil:" instead of "File:")

When translating sv:Charlotte Wahlström to German, I noticed that the two images in the gallery were shown in the preview, but broken in the published version, since "Fil:..." was apparently not translated to "File:..." (or "Bild:...") in the publication process.
