JavaScript glitch in IE8

When editing multi-line paragraphs (or lists, or table cells that are split as one per line), trying to move from one line to its neighboring lines via the arrow keys (up / down) will force the cursor to the first character of the line to which i am moving. The strange thing is that no warning is being raised (as it usually happens for JS bugs), even if i enable script debugging and notifications about every script error. Fwiw, i tested this in IE9 and Safari and it doesn't happen. Is the IE8 userbase small enough to justify ignoring this disfunctionality, or should it be fixed?

Many MediaWiki features are disabled for IE8, most notable VisualEditor. You can see that some IE8 issues were circumvented in the past. Reporting those you see is always useful, if they can't fixed the feature can be disabled for the faulty browser.
