Transliteration of Wiki Content

Hello,

I am working on a web site where I want to display the content on the wiki as per the user selected language. The content will need to be transliterated to the selected language. Please note: I DONT WANT TO TRANSLATE, but only TRANSLITERATE using NARAYAM.

For example, if the original content was entered in KANNADA, users should be able to read it in HINDI, TAMIL, TELUGU, etc.

How do I achieve this using NARAYAM??

Thanks, Ajay.

You cannot achieve this using Narayam. Narayam is only for typing and not for transliterating an existing text in one language to another.

Santhosh will correct me if I'm wrong: if your transliteration can be completely automated and applies to whole pages, what you want is a rule for for the "language converter" (file request). I'm surprised that you think such a thing possible for those languages, but I don't know them well enough. :)

The way I see is, since we are entering text in English, it is stored in English in backend. But when rendering them as a wiki content, invoke NARAYAM or transliteration tool to display in the desired language.

To make you understand better, what I want to achieve is, for example, out national anthem is same when read in any language. its only the script that needs to be changed as per user requirement. "Jana gana Mana" is same in all language.

I hope I can achieve this. Is there any other extension in mediawiki you know off that I can use?

Ajay.

See Extension:LiveTranslatem which may do what you want. Please look up the meanings of "translation" and "transliteration". They are very different things.
