Naming our developer events

Proposal: naming all our developer events lasting one day or more:

MediaWiki Hackathon City

e.g. MediaWiki Hackathon Amsterdam, to mention an event currently showing a branding problem: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Amsterdam_Hackathon_2013

  • In places where "Hackathon" is a problematic word, DevCamp could be used instead.
  • If an event is all about a piece of software then it could be named after it e.g. Wikipedia Mobile Hackfest.

Localizations and other exceptions to be considered as requested.

PS: Discussion started at wikitech-l, moved here.

I really am fine with inconsistency (and yes, I mean inconsistency). But if new event-runners want guidance, this guidance seems fine, as guidance that they should feel free to ignore, on their own, without having to request exceptions. Gatekeeping bad. :-)

Mmm ok.  :)
