This page details the Toolserver maintenance schedule for maintenance activities that cause user-visible outages.

Maintenance is divided into four categories:

Trivial maintenance
Maintenance that is not visible to users (or does not not affect users) and does not cause downtime. A Jira-ticket with the issue "Minor work" is filled in before.
General maintenance
Maintenance that is visible to users, and/or requires action from users, or maintenance that does not affect users but causes downtime. This includes all non-security-related software updates. A Jira-ticket with the issue "Planned work - user impact" is filled in before.
Critical maintenance
Maintenance that would otherwise be general maintenance, but needs to be performed outside the normal schedule to ensure the stability or security of the Toolserver platform. A Jira-ticket with the issue "Planned work - user impact" is filled in before.
Emergency maintenance
Maintenance that must be performed immediately and without advance notice. A Jira-ticket with the issue "Emergency work is filled when the work is done.

We will schedule maintenance as follows:

  • Trivial maintenance will be performed on an ad-hoc basis and with no notice to users.
  • General maintenance will be announced 24h at minimum on the mailing-list before it will happen. The message MUST contain the start-time of the maintenance and SHOULD contain a estimate length and the link to the ticket.
  • Critical maintenance will be announced 6h at minimum on the mailing-list before it will happen. The message MUST contain the start-time of the maintenance and SHOULD contain a estimate length and the link to the ticket.
  • Emergency maintenance will be performed immediately, and the list will be notified afterwards. The message SHOULD contain a link to the ticket.
