Exporting Mbox

[edit]

What pages and images do I need to export to correctly get Template:Mbox to work on my own wiki, documentation included? It is clearly using sub pages, documentation templates, various images and more templates on the documentation, etc. I'd love just a strait up list that I can cut & copy into the export page. • What about extensions it relies on though? I just exported to xml and imported in my wiki and it's definitely not rendering correctly. From what I understand parser functions should be packaged with mw as of 1.18 (Im on like 1.20). SMW relies on parser functions and that's working so I'm pretty sure they're working on mine. --160.111.254.15 16:06, 22 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
    • I also tried to export the Mbox template (I used directly the Special:Export page and ticked the "Include templates" checkbox. I imported it (it imported about 30 pages), I then added one or two image files just in case, but still nothing. What I see is just the icon and the text, but no box. There is no Lua script error either. I know that the Lua scripts are working because I tried it with the Module:Test on my wiki. Please give advises...

No boxes

[edit]

I have imported this template to my wiki, but i don't get the outlined boxes around the icon and text. any ideas?

Some mbox classes missing

[edit]

I try to implement this template on my own wiki. After some weird errors about this message box is using an invalid "type=X" parameter and needs fixing. (where X = critical and some others, I forgot), which I managed to solve[1], I realized that almost all boxes look the same. I searched for MediaWiki:Common.css (which now is MediaWiki:Gadget-site.css, anyone know the reason why they changed the CSS?) and didn't find anything for these classes:

  • mbox-critical
  • mbox-important
  • mbox-warning
  • mbox-caution
  • mbox-license

although I find one wiki that implements them. Are these classes deleted on purpose, so we need to create them ourselves?

I also inspect the elements of Mbox and get ombox-notice, ombox-move, and ombox-protection classes for type=notice|move|protection. Should them be mbox-notice, mbox-move, and mbox-protection?

  1. ↑ Somehow, exporting the Template:Ombox/core template gave me older version which excluded some classes. Manually copying the template from MediaWiki into my wiki fixes this problem.

Undocumented image3 parameter

[edit]

{{ApiWarn }} invokes {{mbox| image3 = [[Image:Attention_niels_epting.svg|25px]]| text = warning text here}}

note image3. I think this overrides the default image that type=important would otherwise use, but it's undocumented. No big deal, I'm just curious.
