RHEL 7 still supports only npm 3.10. parsoid appears to work, provided 'npm test' is modified so that 'nsp' is no longer used.

Depends which version of Parsoid you're using, but the latest (v0.10) require node.js v6 and above
Are we tied to node 0.10.0? The current LTS is 6.9.4.
No, v0.10.x is EOL. The current LTS should be fine; I updated the page to recommend at least v4.x
