I just tried to make an edit, and apparently I can’t edit because I “have several blocks” and that I can edit again in eight months: but there are zero blocks against me listed in the block log. My most recent edit was in 2020, and I doubt that I got a 4 year block for changing the turret number of a WWII tank in a museum. What’s this all about? Is there even an appeals process?

@BertoMcBerto: you just edited by posting this - generally if you are blocked the block message will say what to do about getting unblocked in the message. Xaosflux (talk) 00:30, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
I may be in the wrong place with my request, if so please direct me to the right place. I have some comments about the mobile mode. Firstly, I can't edit the whole article, so on mobile I can only edit sections and that's annoying, I would be happy if that could be changed. Secondly, the buttons for viewing and resetting are not always displayed when I want to view and check a change, which in turn makes viewing on the mobile phone very difficult for editors, as I always have to switch to the website view. Oh, and the editing aids, such as: Insert documents, text tools and add link are missing in the source text editing, which I also find a pity.
My watchlist prefs are do not show my edits and show only most recent (plus other prefs). If I or others make several edits to a page, all show up on mobile watchlist.
I’m pleased to announce that a new design for Special:Preferences on the mobile website is now live on all Wikimedia projects! The new design makes it easier to browse the different categories and settings at low screen widths. You can also now access the page via a link in the Settings menu in the mobile web sidebar.
Would it be possible to make articles "Skin specific"?
I'm referring to my last comment: this is then no longer up-to-date:
"To turn HotCat on or off, first make sure you are logged in. Then, click on "Preferences" in the upper-right corner"
But I wouldn't edit it, as some people still can be using Vector 2010. That calls for a structural change of making it able to make content to a specific Skin.
What do you think of it?
We discussed this in T311719 because we agree that it's not intuitive that some settings only work in certain skins or have directions relating to specific skins. Unfortunately we couldn't come to a consensus on how to handle this so we're not working on skin-specific content right now.
Hi! I just wanted to enable HotCat, as I saw, that there's a direct link in the "How to enable/disable" section, that doesn't work: It doesn't open the "Gadgets" tab. I switched back to the older "Vector Legacy 2010" skin and everything became clear: The old Vector style of Preferences does support this type of direct link to a specific Preference tab, but the new Vector style doesn't.
Can we fix that somehow?
@Xekneb This is a bug that will be fixed this week (T321330). On English Wikipedia it should start working again tomorrow :)
Neat! :) Thanks for the fast reply!
Thank you for your feedback!
Saya memilih opsi D karena lebih mudah dan tidak terlalu panjang dibandingkan dengan opsi A
Thank you for your feedback!
For the main menu, I prefer Option 1 as the first choice, then Option 2 as the second one. The second option looks nice albeit not that functional (because of side scrolling which may be a bad design choice, I don't know I'm not a mobile app designer), while the first option is better and more familiar to mobile users.
About the modal, I approve 100% no further comment.
About saving, I also approve 100%. Just make a cue to notify the user that the setting has been applied and that the user can close the window.
About MobileOptions and Preferences, I want only one preferences tab (or settings, the label doesn't matter), and not two.
Even though I don't access the preferences that often, even on my laptop, I just want a similar experience in both mobile and desktop versions.
Thank you for your feedback!
Main Menu: A
Modals: Yes please. Though personally, I don't think that goes far enough. NavigationController drill down menus is what I expect on mobile. If the page has sections, you need a submenu.
Saving: Save immediately (unless it's an option that affects large groups of users, my access or anything else that could possibly be dangerous).
MobileOptions and Preferences: I think the proposed distinction makes sense. I personally summarise these as "Minerva settings" and for me logically, they belong under "Appearance" under "skin preferences". But I understand highlighting them separately in the Mobile interface.
Thanks!
When you say "NavigationController drill down menus" could you elaborate? Are there examples of what you mean elsewhere in Minerva?
For MobileOptions and Preferences, we discussed merging them somehow but there's a technical difficulty in these being separate Special pages, and Preferences requires a login, whereas MobileOptions is also shown to logged out users, so they're likely to stay separate, at least for now.
