Could you add a first activity planned? It doesn't need to be a confirmed activity, but at least a realistic example of a first activity you would start organizing. The main purpose of these groups is to organize activities. Since you are pushing this proposal it is expected that you have already some ideas in the pipeline. Thank you again.
Talk:Groups/Proposals/Ciudad de México
Jacobo, Luis & Omar: as promoters of the group you need to introduce yourselves. Just one or two sentences are enough. What are your links to the MediaWiki community and/o the Wikimedia movement? All the better if you fill your MediaWiki profile pages with more details. Even in Spanish that would be acceptable, as long as automatic translation is meaningful in English. Links to your Wikipedia, Meta etc profiles (if you have them) will be useful as well. Think that the meta:Affiliations Committee needs to see why would they leverage to you the representation of MediaWiki in Ciudad de México. Thank you!
What has been your involvement with MediaWiki so far? I'm a bit skeptical with MediaWiki groups coming out of the blue.
I'm developer on Java, .NET, Javascript, PHP, I have experience on SQL with DBMS like MySQL and SQL Server. Actually I enrolled in Computer Science Engineer Carrer. In México I use to promote Free Software and the Free knowledge with events and courses. I'm collaborating and participating in Wikimedia Mexico events and promoting that events on my social networks and websites.

Hi, as a native Spanish speaker myself I understand that writing English is not the simplest thing. I have tried to improve the description of the group, but there are a couple of sentences where not even my Spanish is helpful to fully understand what you mean:
"Through outreach, and research that forms part of the development of potential workshops and talks. And while generate feedback on the current paradigms of construction laboratory way."
I you post it in Spanish I volunteer translating.
... Which reminds me that something you could add explicitly is that you will contribute to the promotion of MediaWiki in Spanish, which implies (I guess) some translation work and collaboration with other Spanish speaking groups.
You said that there were other people interested out of the Mexico City. In your proposal I would add that the creation of this group will also serve as a reference to other initiatives that might be started at (name here other cities with a chance to be the next).
Venga, ¡un saludo! :)
Can someone from Instituto Tecnológico de Mexicali & Wikimedia México express and sign the endorsements? Not that I don't trust *you* but in general it is a good practice. Writing names is just too easy and we don't want to set precedents for the future. Thank you for your understanding.
Done, in behalf of Wikimedia México. Regards, ProtoplasmaKid (talk)
Hi, congratulations for this initiative! But you need to clarify one detail: which city of Mexico are you referring to? See Groups#Local_groups: "Local groups must tend to be really local. Starting points like e.g. Recife, Munich or Saint Petersburg are better than Brazil, Germany or Russia."
We had this situation with "MediaWiki Group India", which ended up being "MediaWiki Group Ahmedabad" + a request for a mediawiki-india@ mailing list to the Wikimedia India chapter and some other potential groups that are being cooked up.
Let's discuss. Where are you based?
Thanks!
We are from different cities, but we are from México. I am based in two cities one is México City.
You have to start with one city... MediaWiki Group Mexico DF?
We can consider the creation of mediawiki-mexico@lists.wikimedia.org not as a MediaWiki group but as a channel of coordination between Mexican individuals and groups interested in MediaWiki. For that it is better to show the various activities happening in the country. Having a well backed group at least in one city with other people from other cites being members or endorsing will make a strong argument for that list.
But first things first, ok? Please define a city for this group and continue doing the great work to reach critical mass and get it officially approved.
Within the group of enthusiasts will participate cities across the country, including some of our chapter enthusiasts. Having the name of "Mexico DF" may not seem very inclusive for other members of the proposed group. Regards.
The main focus of MediaWiki groups is to organize activities. Most of those activities happen in some place. This is why we want to have groups that are really local. The coordination at country level can happen through the mailing list and/or Wikimedia México.
We are only requiring 3 people to create a group, which is probably the minimum that can be mathematically called "group". :) Please define a city for this first one and encourage other members either to create their their own groups or to join you while they get ready for their own spin-off.
Thank you for your understanding.
