Article Content and Title Protection

[edit]
  • The way articles and titles are protected is inflexible. Moving permission enforcement into an extension would allow for alternative implementations, and would make it possible for administrators to choose from among different permissions models. See mediawiki-core branch "sandbox/adamw/no_protection_in_core" and the epsilon-minus code for Extension:ProtectedTitles. Adamw (talk) 18:49, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ability to edit/not edit talk whilst block

Per https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28288#c2. Peachey88 04:49, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think that comment was about removing $wgBlockAllowsUTEdit, and thus unconditionally enabling the selection feature, not removing the feature itself. —Emufarmers(T|C) 10:12, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If/when removed, there will still be those that want to be able to disable having the option so its probably easier to drag it out into a extension. Peachey88 10:19, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Moving stuff to extension just to get rid of one configuration setting sounds a bit overkill. Max Semenik 10:24, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
