Actions from last retrospective
[edit]- Talk to Greg G about getting Gather on beta labs [MAX] DONE!
- Get some better documentation up about how to install and configure Gather for testing and code review and email team [JOAQUIN] DONE!
Outstanding actions from previous retrospectives:
- Write clarifying email to clarify expectations around OOJS UI and how it fits in with us (send him ideas) [Kaldari]
- no movement, but Kaldari has been pushing on UI side; heard back from Prateek
- Are there things missing from the documentation? Send examples of missing pieces to S. [Joaquin, Baha]
- getting more urgent to figure out because some patches are geting rejected
- Utimate question: are we going to use OOJS?
- answering this would help us with the problem above: if we all agree that we're not going to use it yet, then fine. if it's coming, then we need a migration plan
- Get OOJS song on Soundcloud [Joaquin]
- Schedule a meeting for the team to talk to Damon about some of the challenges we are facing as we try to "move faster and stay current"; set agenda, get it scheduled! [Moiz/Kaldari]
- Moiz has had continuous convos with Damon and Lila; hand wavey right now. Sense that this problem is so big that it's hard to tackle
- What is the actual problem (right now)?
- What is our "codified strategy" for rapid prototyping/experimenting [JK and Moiz task force!]
- Table until we start planning our next small project?
- Gather is a good example use case for the difficulties encountered in trying to move fast
What's been working well?
[edit]- Rio+1
- Face to face communication between interested parties (as opposed to playing telephone)
- Wikigrok -> extension Smooooth
What hasn't worked well?
[edit]- Setting up new extensions, getting Gather up and running
- Loneliness :-(
- Flow breaks hhvm/zend jenkins job all the time+++
- Talk to Antoine? Erik B?
- -2 warring / my morale wasn't it earlier?
- Estimates some of the UI stuff [Wikigrok]
- Non Gather/Wikigrok work coordination e.g. main menu redesigns+++
- The wikigrok management clusterfuck "kerfulffle"
- Didn't finish sprint properly (lots of pending work)
MERGED 3 ITEMS:
- Getting quick (time-sensitive) reviews/looking at +++++
- code review lagging+
- Long list of patches, no reviews. +++
- Gerritt sux for code review, maybe Phab will help?
- Phab is less spammy notification-wise
- maybe tools aren't problem
- context-switching is hard
- lack of back end developers is problemaic here
- be more explicit in standup about what needs review, get firmer commitment
- note that we are doing better than before (megateam era)
- Use metrics to drive reviewing [Jon]
- community harrassment [BAU](whats BAU business as usual KTHXBYE)++++
- Jon is talking to Anna today, let him know if there are concerns you want him to raise
- Concern that it's not being prioritized
- Report backon convo with Anna [Jon]
- We're working in silos ++++
- Trello contibutes to invisibility
- Schedule meeting to discuss [KL]
What is confusing?
[edit]- WikiGrok quality (responses)
- OOJS
- How to get Wikigrok working now
- Php&Mw
