[edit]- Requested user-rights: Translation administrator.
I'm requesting to become a translation administrator with the purpose of preparing, marking articles for translation and also updating any existing ones where changes have been made. I'm very familiar with the task and the markup as I've been working on a private wiki project that focuses on localizing its content using Extension:Translate for years now. The reason why I'm also requesting these permissions is because an article I prepared 2 days ago is still pending to be marked, so I believe you can benefit from having me on board as I have both time and knowledge to manage translations. --Id508317 (talk) 14:30, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Exclude untranslatable materials from translation finely. See Special:Diff/2329517 and Special:Diff/2330462. --Shirayuki (talk) 00:43, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for reviewing the article I prepared. I'll explain what I did and why I did it. I can see that you've excluded parts where translation units end with a template, rather than using a tvar. I also noticed the splitting of each sentence into a unit and was wondering if that's necessary (I can see how it's more convenient for translators, but it does make the source text more messy). I also noticed you using tvar partly on some templates to have the values, e.g. "content" translated and I agree. I also noticed you switching most of my trans variabled from numbers to words and I'll get to why I was using numbers instead in a minute.
- The reason why I was trying to use one translation unit for each table cell (and include everything the cell contained within it) was for consistency and for keeping the code as readable/clean as possible after. So I didn't really split translation units where I considered there was no need, but of course I'll adapt to how it's done on this project. I completely agree with the change of having some template values translated and that's something I had missed whilst preparing. Regarding the switching of translation variables to words. I used to use word-variables on a private wiki project I'm working on, because I agree, it helps with getting the right context. But as soon as I found out it confuses some of the translators as they translate the variables, I switched to using numbers instead. If this isn't an issue on this project, then I see how word-variables are much more benefiting and I'll definitely learn from this fix. Thank you again for taking your time to review and polish the article I prepared for translation. --Id508317 (talk) 08:53, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for your interest. I'm sad to see that you've not made any other edit after the discussion on the page mentioned above. Please try and prepare for translation another page, then we can consider this request for rights. --Nemo 17:40, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
