As stated in this talk page topic, I've made substantive updates to Extension:MsUpload (the article, not the extension itself) that I believe warrant having a new screenshot. However I lack the appropriate access to use Special:Upload, and c:Commons:Fair_use seems to dissuade one from uploading screenshots, stating they will be "deleted on sight."
Other screenshots for Extension:MsUpload appear to have been uploaded locally, so I am trying to follow suit. The image in question can be viewed here (Imgur link). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ernstkm (talk • contribs) 04:06, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Ernstkm: why do you think that the image would fall under fair use? Wouldn't {{Wikimedia screenshot }} (or, if the extension isn't installed on WMF sites, a similar template with the correct license) be enough? --DannyS712 (talk) 04:17, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- @DannyS712: I could match the license for the screenshot in the infobox on the extension page, which is public domain. However, I'm not sure whether any of the visible parts of the interface are actually copyright the icon artist or the Pluploader project (third-party JavaScript uploader bundled by the extension), which is why I considered "fair use." The other two screenshots on the extension page have no license at all. Fact remains that all three screenshots on Extension:MsUpload are on mediawiki.org, not Commons, so it made sense to me to ask to be able to upload it here. Thanks for your consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ernstkm (talk • contribs) 04:34, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- The instructions at Special:Upload (you don't see them because you error out first) say that mediawiki.org doesn't accept fair use either; local uploads are, as far as I know, for files that wouldn't be useful on commons (out of c:COM:SCOPE) but would be here --DannyS712 (talk) 05:50, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- First, all files that are used on at least one other project are considered in scope (c:COM:SCOPE#File in use in another Wikimedia project. Second, is it really true that all files uploaded to MediaWiki.org have to be freely-licensed, given that Template:Non-free web screenshot and Template:Non-free use rationale have existed since 2012? (Pinging Varnent, who imported them from enwiki). * Pppery * it has begun 15:05, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

Not done The screenshots can be uploaded to Commons without issue. commons:Template:MediaWiki screenshot can be used for this purpose. --Skizzerz 16:41, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
