Effort to update page is underway (feel free to join in the effort)
[edit]As of 12:18, 22 February 2010 (UTC) I'm spearheading an effort to update the page which means notify the users about missing screenshots of their skins. I've started a table with folks I'm contacting (via their talk page). For all skin authors, after you've update you skin, please change it's status in the table below. The changes need to occur on both Manual:Gallery_of_user_styles and the skin's specific page. Anyone is welcome to help, if we all contact 1 author this effort will take no time at all. Simply go to the specific authors talk page (trying to do it chronologically) and add something like:
== Request to please update your submitted skin screenshot ==
This is a request to update your submitted skin with a screenshot to illustrate for mediawiki users what your concept looks like. Please look at [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual_talk:Gallery_of_user_styles#Effort_to_update_page_is_underway_.28feel_free_to_join_in_the_effort.29 Effort to update Gallery]. Thanks! (Signature)
and then add (to the table below):
- link to the specific skin page
- the link to the users talk page entry of your request
- and the status of the request (to do, pending, fulfilled, unknown).

Removing skins
[edit]I think skins should be removed if:
- No free screenshot is available,
- Skins isn't available for download, download link is broken, or skin source isn't included on a subpage, and
- A skin is not free to use, share, change, and redistribute
Or put another way, skins should only be included when:
- A free screenshot is available,
- Skin is available for download with a working link or skin source is included, and
- A skin is free to use, share, change, and redistribute (uses a free license)
How about it? If there is support for it or there aren't any objections in 2 weeks, I'll probably go ahead and do that. --Darklama 13:30, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
- I think the skins should be dated as well. Both when first released and when last updated. --Kristofer2 17:27, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- I think encouraging the inclusion of the first release and last update dates is a good idea. I think requiring it or be removed could be problematic though since people may not remember when exactly they did that. Maybe what mediawiki version(s) the skin was written for could be required instead? --Darklama 13:59, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Download link display broken template
[edit]The template used for this listings Manual:Gallery of user styles/details seems to be buggy at the moment. As far as I can see it's never showing the download links -- Harry Wood 15:44, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- A little download link icon () is shown above the screenshot when a download link is available. The version of the skin is also included before it, but many skins are not versioned. Maybe the download link is not initiative enough? --Darklama 11:37, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
- I tried to fix the download link on three of the skins, but only made matters worse. i returned those skins to the escaped inter-wiki links as I found them.--FeralOink 09:22, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
Skin-Synagonism
[edit]I have created this skin by modifying the vector-skin.
Synagonism greatly improves page-READING by moving the table-of-contents on the left and showing the position the reader is reading!
It works with 1.18.0 but needs testing!
You can find it at: SourceForge

Custom user CSS and JS
[edit]The editor for user CSS links here, but then it just says other skins. What if the file you want to post is just a custom user CSS/JS? --24.207.49.17 01:18, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Are you perhaps looking for Manual:$wgAllowUserCss and Manual:$wgAllowUserJs ? --DavidCary (talk) 02:31, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
Separate
[edit]This page has a warning on top, but is still very visited: how many users are we wasting the time of? I'm not sure where to start, but it should be gradually transformed in a mere dynamicpagelist-backed list of skin pages from the category, or just a redirect to the category, with ancient information removed. Can someone download the skins which currently lack an own page and test with MediaWiki 1.23? Those no longer working can be removed. --Nemo 08:41, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
Navigation==
[edit]Since the page is not quite dead, it could use some standard Wiki template with further readings etc. Where is little designer`s kit anyway --Ubikitty
