New default

@Shirayuki: The default has been updated again to remove youhavenewmessages and youhavenewmessagesmanyusers (in MW 1.42 I guess), but I'm not sure how to properly document that on this page. Since this is a new change, I believe it's appropriate to document it above the 'backported to' section.

I added the 'backported to' section as a last resort, but expressing the history of default values precisely seems challenging. Shirayuki (talk) 12:01, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. I made an attempt at adding it now – moved the backported section to below 1.41 to try to make it clearer which section that belonged to, and added some <hr>s to try to separate them a bit.
