Help:Extension:SocialProfile/User relationships

From mediawiki.org

The social profile allows users to pair themselves as friends or foes. Those relations will be displayed on the user profile and will allow more interaction from users.

Workflow

[edit]

To request a user to be your friend or your foe, visit their user profile while logged in, and use the link in the header to become a friend or foe. You'll be directed to special page to confirm the relation, and optionally add a message to the target user when sending the request.

The target user will receive an email with the request. If the Echo extension is installed, they will also receive a notification about the request. Both notifications will have a link to the Special:ViewRelationshipRequests special page, where the user will be able to accept or decline incoming relationship requests.

If the target user rejects the relation, this is not a permanent decision, and it can be requested again.

Implications

[edit]

Being a friend or foe with another user have the following implications:

  • Information displayed on the user profile: The user may choose to display some personal information only to friends.
  • When selecting a gift to give to someone without specifying a target, you'll be presented with a list of friends to give the gift to, without needing to type the name of the user.
  • From your profile page, if user boards are enabled, you'll be able to send a private message to one or more friends or foes massively.
