Can I use this to help translate my own instance of Mediawiki ? 67.59.193.62 19:41, 26 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

WikiBhasha is developed for Wikipedia, which has multiple languages as sub-domains type architecture. By doing some modifications to the WikiBhasha extension, it can be ported to MediaWiki of similar architecture.

New Feature : Template preview and edit popup

[edit]

WikiBhasha team is conducting several workshops to encourage people to generate multilingual data for Wikipedia. During those sessions there were discussions and proposals on editing the templates in simple and efficient way. In the current version of WikiBhasha, to edit the template markup, user has to switch to the wiki-markup mode. But even in this case the user cannot preview the template.

To track down the issue, we filled a bug in Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26200)

So, taking the feedback into account, we implemented a template edit feature as follows:

How does it work?

Templates are shown as button like icons with the label ‘template’. On mouse over on the ‘template’ icon, a small menu appears with choice to preview or edit the template markup as in the below figure.

On selecting the preview, it displays the preview of the template. If the user wants to view/edit the wiki markup of the template, he has to click the view/edit text tab.

The user will only be able to edit the template in the editable area. After editing the content, user can click on the preview and verify the changes that they had made. Note that the pop up does not allow user to edit the template in non-editable areas.

In the edit mode the user has to close the popup explicitly by saving or canceling the changes, or by clicking on the close button on the top-right corner. It will remain visible persistently until the user closes explicitly, even if he moves to a different step.

Try this feature and share your feedback with us.

New Feature : Translator Popup enable/disable option

[edit]

CTF (Collaborative Translation Framework) is a collaborative cloud service provided by Microsoft Translator, which makes available alternative translations (provided by other users) for a given sentence. In WikiBhasha, this feature may be invoked on every translated sentence.

The CTF pop-up appears as an overlay whenever user mouse over on any translated sentence that was translated with Microsoft translation engine in WikiBhasha. Below is the screenshot showing how it appears in WikiBhasha.

Since the CTF popup appears every time a user mouse over the translated sentence, some people felt that this feature is causing distraction. Also since the popup does not disappears, it overlays on some existing content, making the readability poorer.

To track down the issue, we filled a bug in Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25618).

To solve the CTF popup issue, we decided to provide a checkbox on top right corner of the right side content area. This will enable the user to stop CTF popup to appear. Selecting the checkbox will disable the CTF popup and un-selecting the checkbox will re-enable the CTF popup.

This feature is implemented on a per-session basis. So the user can disable CTF popup only for the current session. Please check this feature and share your feedback. Diet Solution - The Diet Solution Reviews - The Diet Solution Book - The Diet Solution Program

translation as a whole

[edit]

I like wikiBhasha a lot, especially if I can translate my date base entirely into another language. This can be done in various ways

  1. With an application that can translate XML to XML, after that convert to sql and submit to DB
  2. Or what?

I wonder any of you guys know anything about this?

Anohter question is that, wikiBhasha translate some part of the codes, and doesn't translate other! I am looking this so I can see how is the process?

Thanks for the help, and thank you wikiBhasha team for good work! Bamtelim 07:54, 5 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Status?

[edit]

Is this still known to work? I have just tried to get it to work, using both the bookmarklet and the user script options, but it did not appear at all. Is anyone known to be using it today? Ijon (talk) 02:08, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Last time I tried searching, I couldn't find any indicator of someone using it. --Nemo 06:53, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
