After installation of RefHelper on Mediawiki 1.17.0 (from snapshot) any attempt to edit page gives this:

Using Semantic Mediawiki

We are using {{ref|Hubel 1968}} through a template but in our case we are using semantics of a stored page through Extension:Semantic MediaWiki. A particular property/value pair [[Reference::Hubel 1968]] is stored and allows to display other values such as title, year etc.. Pending on the format (Harvard, Chicago, APA etc.) needed, the display can be changed dynamically without altering already stored information.
