Included vs. Excluded Namespaces

We regularly use EditOwn and find it very helpful. I would like to suggest an enhancement that would make it easier for us to use. We typically use EditOwn only for a small set of namespaces. (You can read about one of our uses cases at http://wikimedia.7.x6.nabble.com/SMW-search-and-rating-td5052836.html#a5054728. Search for EditOwn in that discussion.) By default, EditOwn applies to all namespaces except those that are excluded. We would like the option to have it apply only to a list of included namespaces so we do not need to exhaustively list those to exclude. We propose a Boolean flag that would indicate whether to use a list of excluded or included namespaces. It would default to the current behavior so that the change would be backward compatible.

Does this make it so that All Pages can only be edited by their author, or so that authors can choose to have their pages editable only by them? There is a difference, and the second option is what I'm looking for...

Sorry for the late reply. There's no choice for the authors, all pages are automatically restricted to being editable only by their creators and sysops. The author could, however, choose to put the page in a namespace to which the EditOwn restriction doesn't apply, see this.
