Example extension?

[edit]

The docs say that there is a CommunityConfigurationExample extension available as a demonstration, but it doesn't seem to exist in Gerrit. Is it available somewhere? Sam Wilson 13:24, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Samwilson, is this what you are looking for: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/q/project:mediawiki/extensions/CommunityConfiguration.
You can also test Community Configuration on Spanish beta currently: https://es.wikipedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Especial:CommunityConfiguration
@Martin Urbanec (WMF) & @SGimeno (WMF) can likely help further, and/or update the docs as needed. KStoller-WMF (talk) 19:01, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@KStoller-WMF: Thanks! But no, I found that main repo for the extension, that's all good — it's the CommunityConfigurationExample repo that I'm looking for. I guess the GrowthExperiments extension is the best place to look for how CommunityConfiguration is used (that seems to be what's providing the features listed on the beta site, if I'm reading it correctly)? The features on the beta site are indeed provided by the GrowthExperiments extension. The CommunityConfigurationExample extension is hosted on GitLab: https://gitlab.wikimedia.org/repos/growth/community-configuration-example/. However, we're still very much actively developing CommunityConfiguration and neither GrowthExperiments nor CommunityConfigurationExample are a great example yet, but rather show the WIP as of now. In particular, the CommunityConfiguration API and thus also these examples are in no way stable yet. That being said, feel free to play around with it and let us know what you think :) --MGrosse-WMF (talk) 16:26, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@MGrosse-WMF: Thanks! I totally didn't see that there was already a link to the GitLab repo, sorry. Looks good! I was looking into this because for Extension:CommunityRequests we might be wanting a way to define some various things — that's all a good few months away though. Will let you know if I have any feedback. :-) Sam Wilson 07:04, 24 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
