[edit]

In October we had a successful week long MediaWiki Core offsite in San Diego. Currently we are focusing most of our energy on planning for the MediaWiki Developer Summit 2015 (Jan 26/27, 2015). We are also ramping up slowly on the French Hackathon in Lyon which will be taking place on May 23 - 25. Team off-sites come up in January: Ops (1 day offsite), Team Practices (3 day offsite).

155 people from from 24 countries met in San Francisco for the [Developers Summit 2015] on January 26th and January 27. The MediaWiki Developers Summit consisted mostly for discussions lasted for two days, but included optional hacking time in the evenings. Some of the main topics discussed include: Mobile, Visual Editor, Consistent User Experience, and Service Oriented Architecture. The summit followed the WMF All-Hands event, so the majority of the WMF developers were able to attend however the event was open to the entire engineering community.

Wikimedia Belgium and the Wikimedia Foundation joined efforts in a Wikimedia stand at FOSDEM, meeting potential and actual contributors to our developer and content projects, and giving away shirts, bottles, pins, pens, pencils, and more. Andre Klapper and Quim Gil gave a presentation about Wikimedia adopts Phabricator, deprecates seven infrastructure tools in front of a full room with ~200 people. Details: phab:T84972.
