We created a headless user to run recurrent reports and groundwork to support creating new metrics. The team also discussed potential changes to the first round of metrics implemented in the system to support a broader view of participation, and reviewed mockups provided by the design team with stakeholders.

The ability to run a metric over an entire project (wiki) in Wikimetrics drives us closer to producing data daily for our first Vital Sign. The team has also iterated on the design of the dashboard and navigation. We added a requirement from executives to have a default view when EEVS is loaded. This view would display metrics for the 7 largest Wikipedias.

The culmination of our efforts this month can be visualized in a prototype built for Wikimania. This was made possible thanks to many back-end enhancements (optimizations) to Wikimetrics, along with research and selection of the optimal technologies to implement the stack to display a dashboard.

The team implemented the stack necessary to load EEVS in a browser and has a rough implementation of the UI according to Pau’s design . The team also made available to EEVS two metrics already implemented on Wikimetrics: number of pages created, and number of edits.

The Vital Signs dashboard is now live. We are calling it “Vital Signs” because it will eventually display content and readership metrics, not just Editor Engagement metrics.

Vital Signs was presented at the Analytics Quarterly Review as well as the October WMF Metrics meeting.
