International scholarships

[edit]
Application deadline was in January 2019

By using the registration form above you are asked whether you want to apply for a scholarship for participating in the Wikimedia Hackathon 2019. Our international scholarships are designed to cover your travel expenses, hotel expenses or both.

An international scholarship committee (which consists of representatives from the Wikimedia Foundation, Wikimedia Deutschland and Wikimedia Czech Republic) decides about the scholarship requests. These scholarships are funded by the Wikimedia Foundation and Wikimedia Deutschland.

The scholarship committee will review scholarship applications and rank participants based on the following criteria: technical background/background working with Wikimedia technology, participants ability to contribute to the events focus areas, geographic diversity, activity within WMCZ community/local to Czechia, plan for the hackathon (if not related to the Wikimedia Hackathon focus areas), newcomers to Wikimedia with background in free and open source projects.

The deadline for applying for a scholarship was 8th of January 2019, the scholarship process is now closed.

We are aiming to announce the first round of scholarship approvals by 19 February. We will do our best to meet that deadline and if it is not possible we will update this page.

Details on scholarships by Wikimedia affiliates will be added later
