Remove category from extension

Hello there,

I didn't find a way to do it, I guess due to priviliges, so could you please remove the Extensions with unknown license category from https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:WPMW. It has a GPLv3 license.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Axil42 (talkcontribs)

I have no idea what you are talking about. I think that you would be better to ask your question at Project:Support desk. — billinghurst sDrewth 01:20, 16 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wikistats 2.0 Prototype Feedback

Hello! Thank you for leaving feedback on the Wikistats - Future per report and Feedback/Round 1 pages. We used it to build an interactive prototype of the next version of Wikistats. We're now looking for feedback on the visual design, and we'd love your input. We have some follow-up questions but mostly an open discussion at Request for feedback/Round2 (if you prefer email, write to milimetric@wikimedia.org and please include "Wikistats Design" in the subject). Please comment by Monday, May 1st so we can include your feedback into the first release of Wikistats 2.0. Thank you very much!

GUC shows mediawikiwiki

Hi Billinghurst

If the theory works, this edit will show up on Global user contributions, while my other edits made through Flow earlier will not. Regards, Ottawahitech (talk) 22:27, 14 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Ottawahitech: that sort of makes sense as GUC is old technology that somewhat was developed as an anti-spam and anti-vandalism tool. If I remember correctly the GUC code is sitting in github, and through phabricator: for bug reports and feature requests; as extension:Flow is a separate stream of activity. special:centralauth will give you a link to each wiki's contributions, and there are some other tools that look at activity, though only guc will show the specifics. — billinghurst sDrewth 01:09, 15 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for pinging me and providing all the links, much appreciated. Just to let you know that I have discovered another puzzle:
I clicked my Contributions button on the top of this page to check how many contributions got recorded, and to my surprise the number is less than a hundred. However if I use https://xtools.wmflabs.org/ec/www.mediawiki.org/Ottawahitech the view of my edits becomes even more befuddled:
  • Total edits 29
  • ► www.mediawiki.org 108
It looks like a software bug, but the link to report it is on fabricator, and I have enough trouble trying to communicate via the various flavors of Flow and refuse to have to learn one more communications tool. Yes, I know I am an eccentric :-) Cheers Ottawahitech (talk) 01:07, 16 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ottawahitech: This is already reported as phab:T136950 * Pppery * it has begun 01:09, 16 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Pppery: Thanks for pinging me (I did get your ping :-). I see from the Phab link you provided that this goes back to at least Jun 3 2016. Does not look like we will see any improvement in our wiki-lifetime ;-)
Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 18:57, 20 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
BTW I made at least 3 contributions on this wmf-site today (not counting this one) but only 2 are showing up at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Ottawahitech Ottawahitech (talk) 19:09, 20 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
The third contribution (to a topic on Talk:Notifications) was deleted by Clump as off-topic and needlessly insulting , so doesn't show up in your contributions. * Pppery * it has begun 19:20, 20 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Active ? Pywikibot ?

Hello from Jan, in Sweden

Found your name on a page about Pywikibot. Are you active? Responsive?

Java Commonist and Vicuna are dead, crashed, so how to do mass-uploads...?

Can I use Pywikibot to mass upload? And the VFC to change descriptions, categories, etc?

Are you able to "hold-hands" (help) a little? As the documentation is not... self-explaining.

What I need to do, is upload (like) 100-200 pictures, then edit the description and category with VFC. My question is, do you or anyone else have a good beginners example / quick-start-guide? With examples...

Or if you know anyone else... what I need is help, anyone who is "skilled" will be fine. English, swedish, german, maybe french or spanish, is ok

Best Regards from

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
