@Tropicalkitty: Can you please delete any image there tagged with {{Now Commons }}? Calvinkulit (talk) 10:25, 25 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Module:Infobox

[edit]

Did you forget to delete this? You deleted the doc page, which is where the deletion tag was (since wikitext content can't be stored on module pages for technical reasons). * Pppery * it has begun 13:37, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

How we will see unregistered users

[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

For adding those comments, I didn't my post to buried below all the others and ignored. The last available username (talk) 09:32, 10 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

There may be some users that are watching the entire Project:Support desk page, but it may take some time for a response while looking at the details of your request. Please see Communication for other ways to reach developers. Tropicalkitty (talk) 18:34, 10 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Extension:Semantic Drilldown

[edit]

FYI I reverted your indefinite protection here - I see no compelling reason why editing that page needs to be limited to admins for the rest of time, and it was already protected for a week. I also unprotected Etherpad index, since the protection appears to have been a response to one instance of vandalism in 3 years, which is totally excessive. * Pppery * it has begun 02:20, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have no objections to the unprotection of Etherpad index, despite it being an inactive topic (marked as historical). Regarding the extension, maybe I misunderstood a bit in Kghbln’s message. Honestly only ENeRZet and one of our colleagues were reverting/disputing translation content at each other. I suppose the point of blocking a editor from editing that specific page because of it adding unnecessary translation tags, despite a note a few months ago, didn’t really help things. Tropicalkitty (talk) 04:40, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps my message was a bit misleading. Hoenstly, I was a bit grumpy here, which also does not help and an already confusing situation. I had hoped that Shirayuki and ENeRZet figure out in bilateral communication how to best do translation of this page while at the same time stop them from reverting each other with "beta extension" and "preparation for translate" comments. That's all I wanted here. --[[kgh]] (talk) 09:10, 15 July 2023 (UTC) PS I did not research their story prior to Semantic Drilldown.Reply

Another deletion request

[edit]

Hi, thank you again for doing previous deletions. I appreciate that. Can you also delete "Category:User interface extensions/sr"? There is nothing translated, title is only copy-pasted. Kizule (talk) 06:48, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

WMDE_Engineering/sr and commit-message-validator/sr with reason as "Author requested". Kizule (talk) 06:50, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
XTools/Page History/sr - only titles of few sections are translated, I don't see any reason for keeping the page, I'm sure that it won't be translated in the near future. Kizule (talk) 06:59, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Template:DownloadMediaWiki/sr needs deleting as well, machine translation from user who doesn't speak/understand Serbian language at all. I'll let you know if there are more translations from the same user, if I'm unable to fix them. Thank you for your understanding, and I'm sorry for bothering you! ;) Kizule (talk) 07:22, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
A lot or all of the XTools/Page History translation pages only have the sections translated, for reasons I’m not sure. However, I won’t be deleting those. Tropicalkitty (talk) 07:22, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I understand. Nevermind, you can take care about Template:DownloadMediaWiki/sr then. :) Kizule (talk) 07:23, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
BTW, I'm wondering if there is any way to "undo" changes at Download/sr made by same user who made Template:DownloadMediaWiki/sr. If you can take care about it, that would be amazing! :) Kizule (talk) 07:27, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you’re a native speaker, is there anyway you could update it? Tropicalkitty (talk) 07:27, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I'm a native speaker. Problem is that I don't have time for updating everything + not everything is actually translatable. Kizule (talk) 07:32, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I just saw that you did everything. Everything looks fine now, thank you! Kizule (talk) 01:54, 12 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Another deletion request #2

[edit]

Hi, I would also appreciate if you could delete "Software_bundles/sr", with reason: "Outdated machine translations". :)

Thank you! Kizule (talk) 05:38, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Are you unable to update the outdated translations there? Tropicalkitty (talk) 05:48, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Template:speedy

[edit]

Do you really think it was necessary to protect that page?, when I changed the braces, I forgot to change the vertical bar, which made the rest of the code disappear from there, so when Clump reverted me, I fixed it, but it reverted again, at least I thank you for do not revert that edition, 😊 67.219.150.34 21:29, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

It was originally protected a long time ago as it’s a popular template for potential disruption, but the page was deleted at one point to remove certain contributions. Tropicalkitty (talk) 21:33, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks for the notice! 67.219.150.34 21:36, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Block vandal

[edit]

Hello. Please block User:مصطفى_ملو01, they are Vandalism-only account, and also blocked from Commons for the same reason. Thanks in advance. كريم رائد (talk) 09:32, 21 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Another colleague had fulfilled this while I was away. Thank you for the request. Tropicalkitty (talk) 14:58, 21 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Can you close/ban wikis?

[edit]

I’m asking this question because I have found some wiki that encourages illegal stuff. It even violates Wikipedia’s child safety policy.

https://map-wiki.com/index.php/Main_Page OMGShay 92 (talk) 15:12, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

That wiki is a non-Wikimedia Foundation project, so we’re not able to assist. Maybe try reaching out to law enforcement if there’s actually illegal content on the site. Tropicalkitty (talk) 15:54, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Salts

[edit]

I fail to understand why you temp salted User:Fabianavasquez8299 and User:Splayworks1 instead of blocking the offending users indefinitely. ToadetteEdit (talk) 06:31, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

I went ahead and unprotected them after reading your message. I didn't feel like blocking in this situation, especially the account that basically was trying to create a blank user page. Although, as the filter suggests, they are encouraged to create a global user page at Meta-Wiki, instead of here (unless they add in information that is sufficient to the MediaWiki documentation project).
