Community consensus reached?: Consensus reached to end Flow Trial at EN:WikiProject_Breakfast.

[edit]

I intend to appeal (is this correct wiki-jargon?) the wp:close of this wp:RFC. Ottawahitech (talk) 19:11, 9 January 2016 (UTC) (whose wiki-time is limited and may not be able to respond here in timely manner)Reply

The appeal have to be made on English Wikipedia. I don't know if the appeal is a suspensory process on that wiki. Trizek (WMF) (talk) 02:02, 12 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
The close was challenged, reviewed, and confirmed as correct.[1]

Philosophy of spreading Flow over talk pages without simultaneous tech support

[edit]

I'm a little bit confused and don't know what to do.

  • On the one hand, communities and individuals are encouraged to get Flow deployed on their wikis/pages. It's like Flow was to be spread over numerous talk pages on numerous wikis prior to getting support regained. I'd love to ask Polish community whether they agree to have it on more pages (individual ones, or some entire namespaces, like project talk, help talk, category talk).
  • BUT, on the other hand, acceptance of such a question depends on some features that could (continue to have a good experience) or could not (no plans to add major new features) be added, like moving topics between boards, separating comments to new topics, search, protecting descriptions, etc. Without it, it's quite risky to deploy Flow-as-it-is and pray for no vandals, no misconceptions, no newbies' questions on wrong pages/threads etc.

So, what's more important / what should happen first:

  • have Flow deployed on more pages in order to be able to reactivate support, or
  • wait for the team to fix any bugs/add any features in order to provide better-than-insufficient experience?

(I know you're working on cross-wiki Echo, sorry for interrupting and keeping asking 'what's next?' - I just like to grab the vision, if you have one.) Tar Lócesilion (queta) 18:51, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tar Lócesilion
At the moment, people or communities who want to try Flow can do that if they want. They know there is some problems and some features missing.
We have more and more people and communities who are trying Flow, and we still want to support them. That's why we are currently working on a survey to know what communities expect from the development team about Flow.
You will have news about that soon! :)

To clarify: sentence 1-3 - obviously (we still want to support them - good, although, maybe I should have used 'development' instead of 'support', because in this case, there's a huge difference), sentence 4 (the survey) - great! looking forward to it. Really. Tar Lócesilion (queta) 19:43, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
We support communities by technical support. That may change to development if the survey shows enough support. Trizek (WMF) (talk) 20:08, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

hello

[edit]

Hello, my name is Marine and I am from the Site in Hebrew. I recently changed my page flow, and experience in, I decided to bring it back. how do I do it?

Hello user:ים
I can archive your Flow talk page and restore your wikitext ancient talk page. You will have to copy/paste the conversations that you want to keep from Flow to that restored talk page.
I'm also collecting feedback about Flow use. Can you explain me why do you want to have your former talk page back?
Thanks, Trizek (WMF) (talk) 15:27, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
It's not easy for me and others to use it, and I'm sick of it - I want to go back to my .. So you can do it? And if so, when? Trizek (WMF)
I can do that when I will have the right to move pages on Hebrew Wikipedia. I'll check on that to have that right soon, and then move the page.
Thanks for you feedback by the way :) Trizek (WMF) (talk) 18:19, 25 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Trizek (WMF): , hey, can you please remove my flow and return it to wikitext? thank in advance--Mikey641 (talk) 20:27, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
I'll try to do that quickly, Mikey641, but there is a little problem that I need to fix first. Trizek (WMF) (talk) 08:03, 15 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Trizek (WMF): never mind. I've changed my mind, i have really started to love it. i wanted to remove it because the navigation between topics what kind of annoying to me, but flow's still better than wikitext. Thank you for the fast reply and sorry for bothering you.--Mikey641 (talk) 11:06, 15 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thank you to remind me that I have to fix my problem, Mikey641! ;-) Trizek (WMF) (talk) 08:37, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello YamA
I'm deeply sorry but there is still a problem which blocks me. I can't do that manually.
I'm adding that problem to my priority to-do list for the week. I'll give you updates promptly.
Sorry again, Trizek (WMF) (talk) 10:28, 19 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, Trizek (WMF) YamA (talk) 11:40, 19 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

That task is currently blocked by a problem with rights to move talk pages. Trizek (WMF) (talk) 09:32, 2 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

That problem has been solved. It is now possible to move these pages on Hebrew Wikipedia. Trizek (WMF) (talk) 08:37, 20 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
